The first African baseball league will operate in a non-traditional season during the winter months of November-March annually, catering to the Rookie and Single A level professional baseball market. The marketing strategy is to position the African Baseball League as the “preferred US & Global alternative” to Latin and Caribbean winter league baseball. The tournament launching the league will comprise of the top 6 teams preceding 2012 invitational events in Africa which includes: South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Cameroon. These 6 teams will culminate in the capital city of Yaoundé, Cameroon from the 5th – 12th of January 2014 in a weekly tournament launching the African baseball league which will be preceded by the opening of the Academy for boys and girls with primarily focus on Educational and leadership skills. The Start up budget for the entire project is estimated at over a million dollars with the possibility of creating 20,000 jobs in over 15 African countries.
